Organisations
There are active programmes to encourage and support the
industry that are being run by various organisations in the
UK:

DECC&rsquos Marine

The Carbon Trust&rsquos
Marine Energy Accelerator programme
Marine Renewables Deployment Fund
The British
Wind Energy Association (BWEA)
takes an active role in representing and championing the marine
sector.
A new marine energy institute, PRIMaRE,
has be sent up in South West England alongside core the SuperGen
core research programme in
the UK , as well as a number of European initiatives in
marine renewable energy, including the Portuguese Wave
Energy Centre.
Documents
Research conducted separately by the World Energy Council and the UK Government has shown that the UK has some of the best tidal and wave energy resources in Europe. The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) publishes resource maps.
DECC&rsquos recently published renewable
energy strategy document
included
explicit assumptions about the role of marine renewable energy in
the delivery of
the strategy.
